About Saluti Cellars
Vineyard Wedding Venue in the Sierra Nevada Foothills
“Saluti” in Italian means “greetings” which reflects how we feel greeting you and ensuring that you enjoy your stay on our property. We enjoy providing our guests with an exceptional experience by sharing our love of good wine, country elegance, beautiful vistas, and our resident critters. We make our property yours to explore with hiking/walking trails and paths or to just sit on our porch swing, sipping on our award-winning wines while enjoying panoramic vineyard views and beautifully landscaped grounds. Our goal is to ensure you have many happy returns.
Our Rescue Critters
Our menagerie of rescue critters are our extended family. “Moke” our winery dog will greet you upon your arrival, and show you the way to our tasting room. “Norman” our Clydesdale can often be seen roaming the property. Our rooster “Corn Dog” watches over his brood of hens who provide fresh, organic eggs served to our Bed & Breakfast guests. Our barn cats (Sox and Tigger) contribute to the control of mice, gophers and other rodents that harm our vineyard and gardens. At certain times of the year you will also see grass fed sheep and cattle as well.
What We Value
Our small footprint philosophy includes being 100% solar, “Fish Friendly Farming” certified, utilizing organic gardening methods, grass fed/no hormone/no antibiotic ranching, using non-chemical methods (e.g. barn owls and cats) for control of vineyard pests, using natural ozone versus harsh chemicals for the cleaning of winemaking equipment, utilizing natural underground caves for wine and barrel storage, along with providing our customers with a complimentary electric vehicle charging station.
Meet The Owner
Owner/Winemaker
Randy Rossi
During a vacation at a bed-and-breakfast in Somerset, Randy fell in love with the area and knew it was where he belonged. With a Master's in business and a background in agricultural economics and viticulture, transitioning to a vintner was a natural fit. “I became fixated on creating the paradise I had envisioned in my mind for years,” he shares.
After an intense career in law enforcement and counterterrorism at the state and federal levels, he witnessed both the highs and lows of humanity. To cope with the stress of his demanding job, Randy often escaped to a mental sanctuary filled with animals, ponds, and of course, wine.
Over the next two decades, Randy turned his dream into reality. He built vineyards, wine caves, housing, barns, and an equestrian center from the ground up. “There was virtually nothing on the property when I bought it. Roads had to be established and wells drilled," he says, proudly noting that he did most of the work himself.
Driving down the paved road to Saluti, the effort and dedication become evident. You're greeted by the soothing sounds of fountained water in a vast lily-pad-studded pond. Norman, Saluti’s Clydesdale horse, often meanders freely through the vineyard.
Norman isn’t the only friendly face at Saluti. Adorable alpacas live beside the resident chickens, and the Scottish Highland cow herd roams freely through the forest. With their long horns, shaggy coats, and sweet disposition, they add to the charm and magic of Saluti.
